It was so cold as I was about to begin this trip – that Cooper’s beak was blue I made it down to Kentucky early enough that I went and found a Disc Golf Course at a park near byAfter finishing my round of golf, I went to use the bathroom to get cleaned up and her temporary bathrooms were unbelievably nice!!I spent the night at a Buc-ee’s in KentuckyMade it to my destination of Gulf Islands National Seashore. It’s super close to Pensacola, Florida. Before going to my campsite, I decided to check out Fort Pickens. After taking this picture I found that Greta had sunk in the soft sand and was now stuck. 😳That’s my campsite for five nightsSandpipers on the beachI made my way out to the sandbar and thought it was a cool time for a videoSome dolphin swimming byThis was the fishing pier on the national Sea Shores Island that I was staying at. I didn’t care for it too much because you were fishing shoulder to shoulder.Believe it or not – the guy that was fishing next to me actually caught an iPhone. His hook snagged on the iPhone lanyard that someone must’ve dropped into the water.I went over to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola because they have a naval aviation museum thereOne of the nicest aviation museums I’ve been inI joined up with a walking tour through the museum. It was about a two hour tour and very informative. Pensacola is the homebase for the Blue Angels.Yes, there were lots of airplanes to see but what made this museum interesting is that they encourage people to actually touch the airplanes and get up close to themThe Pensacola lighthouse that still in working orderI took this picture from when I was out walking the beaches. Pensacola is across the inlet into Pensacola Bay.The actual lighthouse lens and lampI thought the staircase going up looked very coolThis picture is taken from on top of the lighthouse looking back at Fort Pickens Island, where I camped. The arrow points to where the campground is.That’s a picture of Pensacola Naval Base AirfieldAfter leaving Pensacola and heading towards Hot Springs, Arkansas, I made a stop along the way. Can you guess where that is?New Orleans, Louisiana! I went into the old French quarters to see what it was all about. I had a chance to walk down Bourbon Street.I had lunch at Coop’s PlaceAbsolutely great food! But I do have to say their bathrooms have a little to be desired 🤔After leaving New Orleans, I stopped for the night in MississippiMississippi’s rest stop had actual places for RVs to park and have a private area! Very, very niceThe next day I found another disc golf course, but it was incomplete dis repair and I couldn’t play so instead . . .The park had a tall lookout tower that looked out over the Mississippi riverMade it to Hot Springs National ParkOne of the many fountains delivering water from the Hot Springs directly out to the publicBack in the early 1900s when the Hot Springs became popular, a bunch of bath houses were built to harness the hot springs for “medical treatments”The bath houses that were built were pretty RizzyAll the bath houses have been restored and are in working condition. You can actually make a reservation and go in and take a hot spring bathSuperior Baths got renovated but instead was turned into a brewery/Tavern. It’s the only brewery that is actually on National Park grounds.Of course, I had to get a flight of beer and a warm pretzel to go with it 😉Another one of the public fountains shooting out the Hot Springs water. Just so you know the water coming out in his fountains is 147°.Hiking back to the campground from Bath House RowI just thought the fog looked coolThere is a famous lookout tower that you could pay $15 to go up.Trail making my way back to the campground I was up high enough when I took this picture. If you look carefully, you could find Greta in the picture. The next day, I did a different hike, and this is the trail that I was onThe trail came to a place called “balanced rock”I wonder how long that rock and tree have coexistedMaking my way back home from Arkansas I did stop at one more disc golf course before making my way to Michigan
