Our frist stop on this massive roadtrip was Kouchibouguac National Park – we’re out in front of the visitor center
Canada national parks have these red chairs sprinkled through each national park. It’s kind of like fine Waldo because they don’t put the location on any maps. You just have to explore the national park to find them.
Went for a bike ride while we were at Kouchibouguac National Park – I stopped to take this picture because this is what they call saltwater seagrass. What’s interesting is it can live with freshwater or saltwater
Mom being a ham when we went out the boardwalk
The beach area had tons of crab shells all over the place. So if you were into crabbing to boil and eat them, this would be a great place!
Just taking a walk along the beach
Again, along the beach. I thought this was a cool artsy picture 🙂
The next part of the trip entailed taking a 6 1/2 hour ferry ride out to Newfoundland Island. We’re driving onto the ferry here.
They really packed us in like sardines.
When we first started the journey, I took the screenshot of the GPS on my phone. It didn’t take long to lose all cell signal.
This is a picture up on the top deck of the ferry. You could see they even have a helicopter landing pad.
Just some pretty flowers up on Newfoundland Island
When we arrived at Newfoundland Island, it was already getting dark and we went directly to our camp site in J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park. In the morning, we went exploring and found this beautiful waterfall and river directly behind our campsite.
Just a very tranquil place to hang out
Back on the road again, putting in our miles to get to the next stop/campground. Terra Nova National Park. Almost 8hrs driving. But it is unspoiled natural beauty
We arrived in the town of St. John’s. This is the most eastern in northern town I’m in North America continent
It really is a beautiful working harbor
We stopped and had lunch at a restaurant called the bagel Café. It was one of the most eclectic restaurants that we’ve been in with a very unique menu.
This is my meal that I ordered. I don’t remember what the name of it was but you could see. It’s a real hodgepodge of ingredients.
After lunch, we went for a walk and I took this video showing how these row houses all are right nestled next to each other in St. John’s
When we left St. John’s after lunch, I took this picture
Our next step was to a lighthouse named Cape Spear Lighthouse.
Magnificent views from where we’re at. It is also considered a national park.
We found the red chairs near Cape Spear Lighthouse
Turn up the volume so you could hear the foghorn going off while we were walking
That’s Cape Spear Lighthouse in the background. Noticed the red chairs?
We had to go sit and take a selfie in those red chairs in front of the lighthouse
The next day it was pouring rain, but we still managed to find a set of red chairs in Terra Nova National Park
I think we looked pretty soaked. But we still were smiling on the inside.
Our next stop was Gros Morne National Park. This pictures from our campsite.
Our campsite had its own set of green chairs to sit and relax
On our way to Tablelands Area.
Cool fog while we were driving
We got to the parking lot just in time to join a Ranger lead walk
What’s interesting about this place is – the earth’s mantle is poking through the earth’s crust and no plant life can live in this area.
since the earths mantle is made up of heavy metals, it actually acts like a herbicide and kills plants
Even more interesting – the water that flows through a creek. It has a strange look to it since it’s completely soil and free.
Just a Movie of that same Stream
We’re leaving tablelands and heading towards the visitor center
We decided to do a hike up to the top of the mountain. It was on the cool side with rain coming down. Mom was not happy hiking in the rain.
But when we got up to the top, there were some beautiful views
I love this meal that we hiked through. And you could see the table land in the background.
On way back to our campground, we stopped for a short hike and I thought this was an interesting picture how the tree grew around a rock
Start out set of red chairs along a fjord that we were driving by
Just look at that beautiful sunset. I have the same picture as my desktop on my computer.
After our time in Canada up on Newfoundland, we came back into Maine to spend some time at Acadia national Park. This is our campsite while we were there.
There’s a bunch of these tunnels and bridges all throughout Acadia National park. Some of them have low clearances and they put signs up warning people in RVs.
All throughout the park are these roads that are called carriage roads and they were built for horse, drawn, carriages. We wrote our bikes up one of these roads to the top of the mountain.
As you could see, we made it to the top and mom hoisted her bike above her head in celebration
Next, we went to the Jordan Pond Lodge, and sat outside to sample their famous “popovers”. We thought these “popovers” were blown way out of proportion.
The traveling lobster roadside restaurant.
I got out large size lobster roll, which actually consisted of one and a half lobster tails. Very good sandwich.
The next day we went exploring Acadia national Park just to see some of the beautiful sites
Thuner Blow Hole – – what a dud
Was enjoying seeing all the seagulls hanging out on the racks
Just beautiful scenery
Here’s a tide pool that we were looking into
More tide pools
Next, we went to check out the lighthouse along the way
We ended up in the town of Bar Harbor and one of the neat things is you could walk out to bar Island when the tide is low
What made this unique are all the bees on the flower?
Nothing better than pizza and potato chips
We went up to the top of Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunset
You actually need to make reservations to go up on the top of Cadillac Mountain for sunrise and sunset because of the huge crowd
I do have to say it’s very picturesque
Mom taking in the sunset
We’re driving back to our campsite after the sunset and I noticed the full moon. I think this picture turned out pretty cool.
After leaving Acadia national Park, we were supposed to head to Boston and came across this really interesting suspension bridge
