First stop of this one week long trip was Ripsaw Lake Rec Area in Southern IndianaMy campsite when I arrived after a seven hour drive – it was a decent site, but felt a bit exposedI woke up to a chilly morning – frost on the windowsOn day two – I drove around the different campground “loops” and found a new campsite – much more “cozy”The spring flowers were just beginning to bloomDay three was a travel day – I crossed the Ohio River getting into Kentucky before getting into Illinois Before heading to my next Campsite – I went to Lampert’s for lunchHome of the “Trowed Rolls”!!The rolls are tasty when they’re hot and super fresh 😋After Lambert’s I headed to my Southern Illinois – the area is called Rend Lake Rec AreaInside the Rend Lake Rec Area, is a campground that’s named Gun CreekRend Lake is a man-made reservoir that is pretty large. The water is super clean and the lake doesn’t seem overly busy. Here’s my campsite at Gun CreekRelaxing in the shade with a full belly from lunch at Lambert’sI had a crazy Cardinal that we just hang out at my campsite with meHe especially liked coming over and landing on the sideview mirrors of GretaAfter a couple of days at Gun Creek Campground – I took a short drive to Owl Creek Winery to pick up some White SangriaInside of Owl Creek’s Tasting Room where they have lots to pick from 🤪During my drive back home from Southern Illinois there was a huge storm chasing me and I got to a rest area in Indiana and backed into a parking spot right before (5 mins) the storm hit – thank you God!!
